Declining Church Membership = Decline In Faith or Religion?
On tomorrow’s LFN in the 8am hour we will continue our discussion on today’s USA Today article on membership declines in the Southern Baptist Church. Tomorrow though we want to know if you think someone can be Religious without attending a Church. Does a decline in attendance mean that people in the U.S. are abandoning Religion OR are they just staying away from Churches and organized religion. What do you think?

I THINK THAT THE DECLINE IN CHURCH ATTENDANCE IS A WEAPON THE ENEMY IS TRYING TO USE TO BRING DIVISION IN THE CHURCH AT A TIME WHEN WE THE BODY OF CHRIST NEED UNITY. AT THIS TIME THE BODY NEEDS TO COME TOGETHER TO PRAY FOR THE NATIONS AND THE PEOPLE…TO REALLY STAND UP AND BE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. TO BRING TRUTH, REFRESHMENT AND DIRECTION TO THE LIVES OF THE UNBELIEVERS.
decline in church membership = conversion to another faith or religion
The population is becoming enlightened, at least outside the Bible Belt, and especially outside the Buckle….an Insane Asylum full of Nut cases.
I think the decline of religion is a GOOD thing. I amd only sorry I won’t be alive when today’s impotent gods are consigned to the trash heap of history along with Zeus, Odin, and thousands of other gods people have invented over the centuries. I am very heartened that the very latest survey of unbelievers in the United states shows that they are now 16%, two percent higher than in 2001. At that rate, I may indeed live to see a time when religion can be thought of as no more than a hobby for some.
As societies gain intelligence they tend to outgrow iron age superstition.
The answer is simple. In this enlightened age, people are waking up to the absurdities of religion. Christianity is only a fable stolen from the Egyptian Isis and Horus story. Which is just another myth. (a quick check on Google can verify this).
I am aware as I read these comments especially of those who deride religion and delite in their self- absorbed intelligence. I see what Jesus taught of the about the ‘last days.’ I see some of its fullfillment in there comments.
Now, I don’t know if these intellectual persons think they have wisdom or they think they are learned but it matters not which one because it is obvious they think they know of themselves the Holy things of God. But in reality their learning and wisdom is foolishness and they profit nothing from it.
I don’t say learning is not good because it is, if we adhere to the counsels of God. These are not the first nor will they be the last to trumpet their wisdom to their own demise.
Their message is not new, history attests of it from the beginning of time and it is still here today and will be until time ends.
I only say, they have eyes but cannot see, they have ears that listen but they can’t hear. And so I ask, what is your hope? What do you live your life for if there is nothing after this life. To get money? to be able to do whatever you wish to do? You see if there is no God, then all is vain and everything is compounded into one.
Meaning there is no difference between you or the animals other then shape and intellect. There is no future for you except death and that can come any time. It is as though you are the walking dead just waiting to fall.
If I were to believe what you believe their is no such thing as a bad person (corruption) or good person (incorruption).
There is no happiness nor misery nor sensibility nor insensibility. Wherefore you are created for nothing. What is the purpose of your life? You are no different then the animals or anything else in existence. I would say creation but if there is a creation then certainly there must be a creator.
With this type of thought you seem to be saying also, there is no righteousness. And if you say that then you have to say, there is no happiness. Then if you say there is no happiness then you have to say also, there is no misery. But you see this all does exist and why? Because there is a God and all the things I mentioned are based upon His principles.
Search history and see the results between what man thinks he is in control and what happens when allow God to be control. When people choose to follow God and his ways we prosper in the land and when we don’t we suffer the consequences of our own actions.
But in order to find these truthes we must be humble, meek, lowly in heart, loving, have a broken heart and contrite spirit, otherwise, we will not be able to find what God wants us to have because we are too proud to be humble and all the other things I mentioned.
This one thing i do know, for I have tasted of it personally, there is a God, and His Son is our Saviour. You have the right to believe what you choose but remember there will be an accounting some day whether you believe it or not. We will account for our choices in this life either for good or not so good. The choice is ours.
Ray, It’s sanctimonious godbots like you that make me glad every day of my life that I am atheist.
Ray said nothing really. He is the Atheist “God Send” so-to-speak, because for everyone like him, they only isolate themselves further from those who do not believe in God, Jesus, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Martians, etc.. As areas of the U.S. are finally brought into the era of communication via the internet and smaller towns are left in the dust as the youth leave to seek opportunities and employment in more populated areas, they will see that the vast majority do not participate in regular Church attendance or even speak much of it. The “so-called” religious will be further delegated to an ever louder screech of desperation affirming their beliefs as the real majority moves on. Amen. Pass the bread, please.
Religion, and various forms of Christianity in particular is the decaying, rotting shell of the ingenious ancient plan to successfully inject the new breed colonists way of life into the Americas and across the globe. The religion served as the hypnotic communal binder, keeping the colonists within one common frame of mind until the entirety of the globe was staked, claimed and populated. When the ‘civilization’ already established within the minds of the pioneer colonist Christians became firmly and irrevocably established in physical form across the land (world), the institution of the christian religion, like the infamous trojan horse, simply became an artifact, no longer needed, to be chopped up and thrown on the fire.
The only difference here, of course is that the soldiers inside the trojan horse knew that it was a disposable device, while many of the Christian faith have not yet realized the degree to which they were duped into thinking it all real. Think about it: The investors of our forefathers time financially backed the colonists in order to make fat financial returns for themselves. That was and is the true motive force. Religion served the world conquest to that end and now it’s only getting in the way!
