FBI Searches City Hall
Article from James Clark at NewsRadio 1420:
City Attorney Anita Burgess issued a two line statement: The FBI served a search & seizure warrant earlier today for city records. The city will comply with the federal warrant.
Coming Up On Mondays LFN
Tune into Monday’s LFN as we discuss the city elections, Miller throwing Rex out, the future for Lubbock (at least for 2 years) and more. Guests for Monday include Congressman Randy Neugabauer at 7:35 and Mayor David Miller’s PR person at 8:05am.
As always be sure to call in and give us your thoughts. Tune in Monday 6-9am on 790 KFYO.
Miller Loses It
So last night Mayor David lost his re-election bid to Tom Martin by about 21 points, you can read about it here: LINK.
Another big story last night is what KFYO reporter and co-host of LFN had to go through with David Miller. Shortly after the early vote numbers came across, Rex was thrown out by Mayor David Miller himself and told, “KFYO is not welcome here.” It is pretty much unheard of for a candidate and especially an incumbent to throw a single member of the media out of his campaign rally. Rex had called Miller’s people on Friday to make sure he could be there with no problem and he was told yes by Miller’s PR person (who has been great to work with). Rex was there as a reporter, not as a host. I don’t give a damn if LFN, The Chad Hasty Show, and Pratt on Texas has been harsh on the Mayor, you don’t throw a member of the media out. In my opinion it just shows what kind of person Miller is.
I also can’t believe that other members of the media have not picked up on this. What if KCBD had been thrown out? What about the AJ?
Miller doesn’t even know how to exit graciously. He was expecting Tom Martin…the winner…to call him! No, the LOSER calls the WINNER in politics Mayor Miller. David Miller did not even congratulate Tom Martin last night on KLBK or KCBD. Sad and Pathetic.
Goodbye David Miller, and thanks for all the great radio!
It’s Election Day In The Hub
Everyone be sure to get out there and vote today if you haven’t already. Then tune in to The Chad Hasty Show tonight from 5-7 on 790 KFYO, THEN tune into KFYO’s election coverage from 8-10pm. I’ll be sitting in for a while during the election coverage as well.
Search Warrants For Your Blood
On today’s LFN we discussed the report on KCBD last night regarding the D.A.’s office launching a blood search warrant program. Here’s a small slice of the story:
“The D.A.’s office is testing a blood search warrant program. That means, if you say no to a breathalyzer, an officer can take you straight to the hospital where your blood will be drawn and tested for alcohol, and you don’t have a choice. Law enforcement already does this to suspected drunk drivers involved in an accident causing death or serious injury, but now, the process is being expanded.”
“”If a person is arrested for DWI, the officer will ask them for a breath sample. If they refuse, then an officer will take them to UMC, and we’ll fill out a search warrant. They send it to a judge who will review that, and if the judge agrees that there is enough probably cause to search for it, they’ll sign it and then that person’s blood will be withdrawn,” Brummett said. “
Anyone have a problem with this? Is this a form of the State forcing people to turn evidence against yourself? Those who opposed red light cameras because of Constitutional issues…what about this? Here is a link to KCBD’s article. Click HERE.

The Lubbock AJ and Bad Pictures
The Lubbock AJ isn’t the greatest paper in the world. The editorials are crap most of the time and sometimes stories are about 1 or 2 days old. The online version isn’t much better. 9 times out of 10 their BREAKING NEWS feature hasn’t gone off until about midday for a story that broke the night before. All this is pretty common knowledge, but I want to address something else about the AJ…the pictures in stories. Has anyone else noticed how bad these things are? The pics they use are really bad quality or they look as though they got them from the LPD lineup. It’s 2008 LAJ, buy a digital camera and take some good pictures. I’ve selected a few from the online version for today.

Todd Klein For Mayor
No, not this year obviously, but don’t be surprised if more and more people jump on board with this idea for the next Mayoral election in 2-4 years. He has gained a lot of support with his stances on the red light cameras, the Visitors Center, etc. If Klein continues to fight for the tax payers and fight for open government…he should run.
What’s going to be really interesting is to see who else is put up to run against him. I’m sure there are a few people in Lubbock who would put a lot of money behind someone to defeat Klein.
