Lubbock Is That Fat Drunk Guy At The Bar, But He’s A Good Driver!

5 Dec

We will have some fun with this during the show on Saturday, but according to Men’s Health magazine, Lubbock is one of the drunkest cities in America. In fact, Lubbock is in the top 10. According to KCBD Men’s Health in April called Lubbock one of the safest cities for drivers…wait…what? How does that happen? How does Lubbock go from safe to drunk?

In September they ranked Lubbock one of the fattest cities for kids.I guess the PR Department for the City didn’t pay enough for good publicity this go around. I guess Mayor Miller will now write a letter to Men’s Health demanding a retraction and claiming that Lubbock has many good qualities…like the Buddy Holly Center.

Here are a few other categories someone should rank Lubbock in:

Sex Toy Crimes

Arrests for Dancing in a Sexual Manner

Bad Mayor

Nut Jobs

STD’s (I know where we rank…but hey abstinence is working…right?)

Hot Coeds

Wal*Marts per capita

These are just a few…feel free to add your own.

What I find hilarious is that a DRY city is in the Top 10 of drunkest cities.

(Abstinence works just fine, when actually practiced.)

The problem with abstinence is that nobody really wants to practice it, thanks to the biological imperative.

Add “churches per capita” and “miles of streets in the city limits per capita” — I think Lubbock actually does rank very high on both lists.

It’s easy to bash Lubbock,I’ve done it for 40 years(since I was in jr.high). AM radio is talk,FM radio is same lousy songs I heard 40 years ago or worse yet new lousy songs.

Lubbock has changed,We now can get just about anything 24/7 EXCEPT alcohol. When I was a pup in early 60’s we had “Blue Law”,hair code in school and mandatory church on Sunday.

Now I’m 55,bored,blogging,overweight,remembering those good TV shows and hoping that Lubbock doesn’t get worse than it already is.
