Mayor David Miller’s “Gun On The Table” Ad

1 May

Lubbock Mayor David Miller this morning debuted a new television advertisment for his mayoral campaign.  In the ad, Miller alleges that his opponent Tom Martin, while talking to a City of Lubbock employee, placed a pistol on a desk and used it as a form of intimidation.

Right now I can’t find the video for this ad, but you’ll know it when you see it. It’s a black and white ad with Martin’s face appearing then a female voice appears talking about the gun and how all she could think about was his hand on the gun.

On this mornings LFN the reaction was not what Mayor David Miller wanted I’m sure. Most of the callers today were not happy with Miller or the ad, plus they don’t even BELIEVE it. Not sure who this will hurt at the end of the day, but judging from this morning it’s not looking good for Mayor David Miller. You put this ad, the CAVEMAN remark, and his outburst during KFYO’s debate all together, and this isn’t a pretty time in his campaign.

Tom Martin called in during the show today to 100% DENY the events in Millers ad. You can go HERE to read more on that.

So what do YOU think about the ad and the campaign? Does this hurt Miller or Martin more?

I think this is a desperate final attempt by the Mayor to get something to stick – if its true (which Martin denied) then Martin has some ‘splaining to do — if it’s not true then the Mayor has just put the final nail in his coffin and if I were him I would be ashamed to stooping so low. In all my years, I have never seen anyone stoop that low. I agree with a lot of your callers – if this was what we were waiting for to vote, the Mayor just gave a lot of people even greater incentive to vote. The Mayor has been given really poor political advice and his polling numbers must be really bad for him to be this desperate – what a sad day for Lubbock when its come to this…

I happen to remember when this happened, and it’s common knowledge among those who have worked at the City for any length of time that Tom Martin DID IN FACT pull this stunt. Leadership by intimidation is a normal tactic by Martin, and most anyone who’s worked for him will concur. Check the grievance report, gentlemen. It’s all right there in black and white.

Two men may have sunk to a new low. One, pulling this very harsh stunt and the other lying about it.

Thankfully, Lubbock has two other choices. Ok, actually, one other choice.

Only way for Miller to win is to drive Martin’s negatives higher than his own, which will be quite a chore. Gonna get real bad before election day, which is fine with me.

Steve61- Were you present when this supposedly happened? If you were not there than, saying”it is common knowledge” is purely speculation.

This women is not credible & has a major ax to grind with Martin. That damn sure is common knowledge. Miller shows he is desperate by resorting to this junk. His ego can’t take losing, but alas, it will have to. Then he can crawl back unde the rock he slithered out from.

    Good riddance.
