LUBBOCK’S WAR ON BALLOONS

6 Jul

Having solved all the rest of the problems facing Lubbock, the city will be taking a look at passing an ordinance banning the intential release of balloons. According to Councilman Paul Beane this is all because of an event held earlier this year where over 1,500 balloons were released. Now he is concerned with litter coming from the sky.

This isn’t the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of, but it’s close. First, how do you enforce it? Second, who cares? It’s not like Lubbock has 1500 balloons fly into the sky everyday. Councilman Beane obviously forgot what it means to be a conservative (which he ran on). Most conservatives want the government to stay out of your business, but I guess Beane thinks that passing dumb ordinances won’t matter. Lubbock can’t even enforce what’s on the books now.

Paul Beane is an idiot. He ha made it known that his only job on the council is to make sure Martin gets re-elected. So i guess to fill his time when not doing that he has to invent stupid crap like this.
