TABC Issues Permits in Lubbock County

For Immediate Release:  September 22, 2009

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) has issued licenses and
permits to 86 new locations in Lubbock County, including restaurants,
liquor stores, convenience stores and grocery stores. These licenses and
permits all have an effective date of September 23, 2009.

Beginning at 8:30am on September 23, new license and permit holders will
be able to obtain a “Letter of Authority” from TABC which will allow
them to begin buying and selling alcoholic beverages immediately. The
public can access a list of licenses and permits using the Public
Inquiry System on TABC’s website.

Businesses have three options for obtaining a Letter of Authority:
1. E-mail and provide the trade name, the
location address, an e-mail address and a phone number.
2. Call the Lubbock District Office and request a faxed copy.
3. Visit the Lubbock District Office and obtain a copy in person.

TABC Administrator Alan Steen said, “Processing all of these
applications as quickly as possible was a collaborative effort involving
city and county employees, the county judge’s office, State Comptroller
employees, TABC licensing employees, and TABC information resource
employees. It involved staff working evenings, weekends and holidays.
Every resource has been focused on this project from beginning to end.”
Steen continued, “We regret the delay and look forward to our continuing
partnership with the people of Lubbock County.”

New licenses and permits dated September 23rd will be printed that
evening and mailed to business owners on September 24th.
